Dr. Chunxue Yang is a research scientist at the Institute of Marine Sciences (ISMAR) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) in Rome. She leads the Ocean and Climate Dynamics group, focusing on ocean reanalysis, climate variability, and data assimilation.
Dr. Yang earned her PhD in Physical Oceanography from Texas A&M University in 2012, with a dissertation on long-term changes in the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO). She has contributed to major European and international projects, including the Copernicus Marine Service and the MER-EP initiative, and is a member of the GHRSST Science Team.
Her recent work includes the development of the CNR ISMAR Global historicAl Reanalysis (CIGAR), which provides historical ocean data from 1860 to 2022.
