Our Ocean from Space is a traveling exhibition that brings the ocean to life through the eyes of satellites. Featuring spectacular Earth observation imagery, scientific data visualisations, and expert stories, the exhibition invites visitors to explore the challenges facing our ocean — and the global efforts to protect it.
Launched at the UN Ocean Decade Conference in April 2024, this one-of-a-kind exhibition is co-produced by UNESCO and the European Space Agency (ESA), and curated by Fiorella Coliolo (ESA) and Benoît Delplanque (Timkat). It is made possible with the support of key partners, including Mercator Ocean International, the Copernicus Marine Service, CNES, ASI, and CMCC.
What You'll Discover
Through nine immersive themes — Ecosystems, Threats, Shape, Ice, Ocean Warming, Motion, Heritage, Future, and Traffic — the exhibition showcases how satellite data and ocean models reveal the changing face of our ocean.
Each section includes:
- High-resolution satellite images
- Animated scientific visualisations
- Interviews with scientists, local decision-makers, and coastal communities
- Real stories of innovation, resilience, and action
Together, they offer a stunning and accessible view of how space technologies are helping us better understand and protect the marine environment.
