Head of the Posidonia Seagrass Surveillance Service
Marcial Bardolet is a dedicated advocate for marine conservation, with a particular focus on Posidonia oceanica, a vital seagrass species for the health of the Mediterranean Sea. He holds a Master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and brings over 15 years of experience in the planning and management of Natura 2000 sites and other protected natural areas. Since 2017, Marcial has led the Posidonia Surveillance Service under the Balearic Islands Government. He coordinates a fleet of 18 ranger vessels tasked exclusively with protecting Posidonia meadows, raising awareness, guiding boaters, and enforcing conservation measures throughout the islands. Marcial is co-founder and active member of the Mediterranean Posidonia Network’s Task Force, promoting regional cooperation for the protection of posidonia seagrass in all the mediterranean. He is also the President of Mallorca Preservation, a foundation that supports high-impact, community-led conservation initiatives across the island.
