Dr. Alain Lefebvre is the Director of the IFREMER Coastal Environment and Shellfish Resources Laboratory in Boulogne-sur-Mer and co-director of the ILICO Research Infrastructure. He holds a Ph.D. from Lille University (1999) and an HDR (2016). His research focuses on phytoplankton dynamics, eutrophication, and Harmful Algal Blooms, with a strong emphasis on automated high-resolution marine monitoring. He coordinates national biological monitoring networks and the MAREL Carnot system. From 2003 to 2022, he contributed as a French expert to the OSPAR Eutrophication Committee and led national implementation of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive for eutrophication.
